Collection: Penelope Barnhill
Penelope’s jewellery is delicate, feminine and romantic, incorporating religious symbolism and Pacific influences. Penelope uses gold, silver, precious and semi precious stones, glass, dried roses and other materials to translate her feelings, emotions and memories into lovely desirable pieces.
Penelope completed a Diploma in Visual Communications/Craft Design in 1990. A QE11 Arts Council Grant in 1993 enabled her to purchase equipment enabling her to work as a full-time jeweller. Her first solo show ‘Fragile Hearts’ opened in Christchurch in the 1990’s and paved the way for future shows through New Zealand, Sydney, Rarotonga, Paris, New York, New Orleans, London and Munich. Her work has been purchased by both the Dowse and Auckland Museum with private commissions undertaken and discretely sent globally.
