Collection: Gillian Appleby

Based mostly in Auckland, Gillian comes from Hawke’s Bay and has also lived and worked in the UK. She’s a graduate of EIT’s Idea School (2014) and a long-term Tennyson Gallery favourite. 

Her paintings often take their start from sourced, everyday photographs and then depart into mixtures of fact and fiction. Her unique finishing point marks her work, and there’s often a hazy, ethereal quality of the portraits and landscapes.
