Perry Davies started making buildings and objects in Devonport, Auckland during the 1960’s. This developed into more art and less building as he developed his printmaking practice in the 1980’s alongside teaching at the ASA School of Art in Ponsonby.

A shift into more object-making saw him start up a design and building operation, making folding screens and occasional furniture and he took this business with him when re-locating to Ongaonga in Hawke’s Bay in 2004. Perry soon found that a rural landscape was a direct influence on his work and began making small, bespoke pieces of sculpture and painting watercolours.
