Natalie Keegan’s formal training was in painting and sculpture, holding a degree in visual arts. Through her work, Natalie became particularly interested in the ‘lost-wax cast’ technique and continues to explore this process in her current work.
“I really enjoy the process of wax sculpting; I feel I can impart a personal quality to a medium (precious metal) that is often perceived as impersonal, on every piece you can see the traces of my own fingerprints. In a way I approach each piece more as sculpture than jewellery, as much as I may try I can never make two pieces identical.”
Keegan currently lives in Wellington where she divides her time between jewellery, painting and teaching.
