Michael Waysmith is a graduate of the Wanganui Glass School. He currently lives in Wanganui, and periodically works with several other artists, including David Traub, Katie Brown, and The Crystal Chain Gang. Although his glass generally involves the use of combinations of vivid colours and precise patterning, it is constantly evolving.

“Glass is a unique medium in that it colours, shapes, transmits, distorts and reflects light. In its purest form as clear glass, it is literally invisible, seen only by its effect on the light that passes through on its way to our eyes. I am intrigued by the limitless possibilities that exist in using colour and pattern via the medium of cane and murrine.”
