After briefly studying silver-smithing part time at the Manukau Institute of Technology, McLean knew that she loved creating unique jewellery. Now living in Napier, she works in Precious Metal Clay (PMC – also known as Art Clay Silver).
McLean is inspired by texture and looks to many elements for ideas. As well as natural textures, she uses house hold items such as lace, crepe bandages, and has found all sorts of textures. The unique qualities of PMC allow her to be inventive with shape.
